RUNWAY REVIEW: Louis Vuitton Spring 2014 and Jacobs’ Last Show With LV

The incredible Louis Vuitton Spring 2014 collection was shown at the iconic Louvre Museum in Paris France on October 2nd. Though the show was gorgeous and exciting, there was a small amount of sadness felt, as we learned that the ever talented Marc Jacobs would officially be leaving Louis Vuitton. This show, being Jacobs’ last for LVMH, brought back recreations of some of his memorable set pieces from season’s past. The escalators, the carousel, and the fountain were some of the structures reminding us of Jacobs’ 16 years with the French fashion house. This time  however, the setting was all black, as were many of the stylish pieces in the collection. All of the girls rocked a “showgirl” style feather headpiece and black lace, beading, denim, leather and sheer tulle were highlighted throughout the collection. This spring Jacobs has made something for everyone, with dresses that drape in a 20′s like fashion right next to denim and cropped leather jackets that are more reminiscent of the 80′s and 90′s. Jacobs’ departure lhas left some big shoes to fill at LV especially with his ability to be fearless and bold. A perfect example of this is in his opening look of an almost nude Edie Campbell who was “tattooed”  with the Stephen Sprouse-designed LV logo, a G-string and chains. The SBC team will miss “The Marc Jacobs/Louis Vuitton,” but we are happy to hear that Jacobs will be fully focusing on his own brand in order to ensure its highest potential.
